health care professionals and those people with diabetes regarding the
care and management of diabetes in minority populations.
Diabetes is in epidemic proportions in minority communities. More than 2.3 million African Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes and the death rate from the disease is higher and its complications more severe for African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans.
